The Government is planning to develop, design and construct a safe and modern, approximately 400 kilometer long, international-standard four-lane expressway with supporting infrastructure and facilities. The first step will be to establish a connection between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap province, which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Cambodia. Following this phase, the highway will be laid out to connect Siem Reap to Poipet city, which is located on the Cambodian side of the border with Thailand.
