SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PROJECT

Project description: In 2019, there is the reform on the waste management due to the urbanization of Phnom Penh which was led by Phnom Penh Capital Administration and Ministry of Economy and Finance. During this reform, 3 Private Partners (Contractor) were selected from 43 Contractors through the public bidding process for the Phnom Penh Municipal Solid Waste Management Project. This reform has made significant impacts to Phnom Penh such as:

•    Cleanliness improvement in the city.

•    Knowledge and experience obtained on waste managements from the contractors.

•    Implementation of the Auto Billing System.

Phnom Penh Municipal Solid Waste Management Project is the project between the Phnom Penh Solid Waste Management Authority, Phnom Penh Capital Administration (Owner), and Contractor in which the Private Partners will provide services for the collection and transportation of solid waste, including street cleaning, public awareness program and ancillary services in Phnom Penh City. The Owner hereby agrees to pay to the Contractor the Contract Price in consideration of the performance by the Contractor of its obligations.

Annual Contract Price: USD 20 million

Contract Period: 10 Years

Project Commencement Date: 01 July 2021

Implementing Agency: Phnom Penh Capital Administration

Private Partners:

  • Mizuda Group Co., Ltd
  • Cintri (Cambodia) Limited, and
  • 800 Super-GAEA.

Role of Private Partner

To perform service based on its obligations in the contract.

Services:

  • Municipal solid waste collection and transportation
  • Street cleaning
  • Public awareness program on municipal solid waste management and
  • Additional services in Phnom Penh such as container installation works, special container services, and introduction of recycling programs etc.
